The VoiceHost Broadband network is a private service designed to meet the data requirements of those that utilise SIP and VoIP (The VoiceHost Hosted PBX or SIP Trunking products).

While our Broadband network interconnects with Tier 1 National Networks for the greatest possible availability to our customers, we automatically optimise all of our circuits to prioritise VoIP traffic, maximising call quality and reliability.

All of our Broadband circuits have the same, if not better, speeds and reliability of service as those directly from the Tier 1 networks we interconnect with as we operate a low contention rate. However, all circuits from VoiceHost additionally benefit from 24/7 support from our Norwich based Technical support team, as well as a range of QoS (quality of service) options to optimise your voice communications.

A mixture of copper and fibre optic cables are used to increase the speed of the internet. The fibre does not reach the customers home, however, only to a cabinet in the area, and the rest is delivered via copper cables, which can be up to 1500 meters away from the home, reducing broadband speeds to as little as 15Mbps.

The G.fast (ITU G.9700/9701) service works in a similar way to existing Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC / VDSL2) technology by running a fibre optic cable to your local PCP Street Cabinet (note: VDSL2 has its own separate DSLAM cabinet – usually positioned close to the PCP cabinet), which is then fitted with an extension “pod” to house the line cards (this handles up to 48 ports, but it should eventually do 96). After that the service reaches your home via the existing copper cable.

This is a fibre only connection and copper cables are not used at all, so the broadband is transported straight to the premises through fibre optic cables, literally at the speed of light! The position of your home relative to the telephone exchange will not degrade the performance of the line ensuring your broadband speed is more reliable and dependable.

The primary difference between VoiceHost Broadband and Broadband from other ISPs is that VoiceHost Broadband is specifically designed to optimise connectivity from the VoiceHost Voice platform and your site. This, combined with the other benefits of using our Broadband, make VoiceHost broadband the best choice for our customers.


Below are just some of the benefits of using our Broadband:


  • IP-Phones registered on our platform send their data directly to our Voice Network when using one of our Broadband circuits. This means a shorter distance (fewer hops) for the data to travel, which ultimately results in a greater quality of service for our customers.
  • We provide a variety of QoS levels (1,2, and 4) that you can choose from. Each of these QoS levels will automatically allocate a fixed portion of available bandwidth to VoIP traffic. This means that regardless of any other processes running over the data connection, your Call quality will never suffer.
  • We provide a fixed IP Address with every Broadband circuit, at no additional cost.
  • We can provide a preconfigured, SIP-Optimised Router to arrive 24 hours before your new circuit goes live, eliminating downtime and saving you hassle.
  • Customer faults (either on the Hosted PBX or SIP Trunking service) are generally resolved much faster when the entire solution is supplied by VoiceHost, due to increased availability and clarity of information.

What do I need?

VoiceHost is able to supply every part of a new Broadband Connection. Generally, this consists of the following:

  • Analogue Line
  • Broadband Circuit
  • SIP-Optimised Router

If you already have an existing Analogue Line, we can provision our Broadband circuit over the line, and if you already have an existing Broadband Circuit running on an analogue line, we're able to migrate the circuit over to our network.

How does it work?

The first thing to do is to check what products are available at your location. You can do this by contacting the VoiceHost sales team who will be able to advise you immediately. Please note, in order to check for FTTC availability, we will need the telephone number of an analogue line at site.

Once your analogue line has been installed by a BT Engineer, we're able to provision a new VoiceHost Broadband circuit on it. ADSL and ADSL2+ circuits are generally activated within 5 working days, and new FTTC connections can generally be installed within 10 working days, due to the need for an engineer to visit the customer site.



How does the length of my telephone line (copper only) affect my speed?

The loop length of a copper telephone line has a direct impact on throughput capacity. Simply put, the longer the line, the slower the service.
