BRIDGE MODE (Setting Bridge Profile on a TG582n)

  1. Connect Thomson 582n Router (1) to Power Supply.
  2. Connect Laptop to Thomson 582n Router (1) via Cat5E cable.
  3. We now need to upload a special config. File to the TG582n to enable bridge mode.
  4. To upload you must put the .tpl file in the attached file onto your desktop.
  5. Load cmd prompt (start – run – cmd – enter)
  6. Type: cd desktop
  7. Type: ftp 192.168.1.254
  8. Type: Administrator
  9. Press Return
  10. Type: [leave blank]
  11. Press Return
  12. Type: binary
  13. Type : put bridge.tpl
  14. Power cycle the device, log into the router page (type 192.168.1.254 into the browser) and re-run the setup wizard from the GUI and you will have an option to set the device up as a bridge.
  15. Select Bridge and continue.
  16. Set as 0.38 VPI/VCI
  17. Click Next
  18. Keep DHCP Ticked, click next (this is only for local device connectivity, other routers will bypass this)
  19. Continue to End.
  20. Disconnect Thomson 582n Router (1) from Laptop

TG589vn Enabling IPv6


Enable IPv6:

Within the CLI via a TELNET client:

=>ppp ifdetach intf Internet

=>ppp ifconfig ipv6 enabled intf Internet

=>ppp ifattach intf Internet

=>saveall

Enable DHCPv6:

=>dhcp clientv6 ifconfig intf=Internet listenra=enabled stateless=disabled rapidcommit=disabled leasetime=7200 irt=86400 iana=1 iapd=1 duidtype=duid-llt leasehist=enabled

=>dhcp clientv6 ifattach intf=Internet

=>service system ifadd name=PINGv6_RESP intf=Internet (PING responder)

=>saveall
